Bike Tour Ibergeregg – Sattelegg – Linth

Steep and high, not for weak calves and faltering hearts, the Ibergeregg and Sattelegg are a treat for amateur bikers. In between the two, the charming Sihlsee lake is also easy on the eye for those who like to take things more easy.

The two craggy, limestone Mythen mountains tower defiantly above the lush green fields and dark fir trees on the valley floor. Here lies Schwyz, guardian of Switzerland’s historic heritage, the Federal Charter of 1291, and from where five million perfectly polished Swiss Army Knives are exported all over the world every year.

From here, the route climbs via steep roads to Ibergeregg, each bend offering a beautiful view back to Lake Lucerne. On the other side of the pass, flower-strewn moorland increases as you approach the Sihlsee lake. Then there is another 300m (985ft) climb to the Sattelegg Pass and a patchwork landscape of woodland and pastures. The Wägital valley leads into the wide open March plains, where the corrected course of the River Linth has left its mark.
